The Staples story.

From a small start to an industry giant.

In 1985, Tom Stemberg, founder of Staples, envisioned a new concept in retailing — a superstore for office supplies. On May 1, 1986, Staples opened the first office supply superstore in Brighton, Massachusetts. With hard work, dedication and ingenuity, Staples became a success.

In pioneering the office supply industry, Staples changed the way people think about and purchase office supplies. The company's mission — making it easy to buy office products — is a message that consumers and businesses can identify with. Today, Staples is a $19 billion office supply leader, with more than 2,000 superstores worldwide, and projected double-digit growth for the next five years.

SNA customers reap the benefit of Staples stores through buying power, name recognition and the ability to maintain compliance at contract pricing even in emergency situations such as same-day purchases and printing projects.
